Calendar

With this project I was sure to make use of all four design principles. The first, contrast, I used when selecting the background gradient. I wanted the image to fade from a warm color to a cool one for October and November to represent the descent into fall. For December, I had the color fade from a cool color to another cool color to contrast with the other months, which are in another season. I used repetition in that each month's page is set up exactly the same so that it is easy to follow. Each panel is aligned with the other so that your eye can move from the main focus (the image) to the calendar and then on to additional information and coupons. I had the calendar and month name in close proximity so they would be associated together, as well as each of the coupons.

I wanted to reflect the array of animals the Humane Society helps, so I put a different species on each page. I chose fall images for the first two months to reflect the season and a winter scene for the last, which signifies the start of winter. Each month's colors fade as the temperature does, from warm to cool or cool to cool. Each image is of an animal who appears friendly, yet magnificent, which I would hope would inspire potential pet owners to consider adopting a similar animal.
